Trio in Northern Ireland U19 Squad Fri 01st Oct 2010 20:26
Town trio Caolan Lavery (pictured), Josh Carson and Rory McKeown have been named in the Northern Ireland squad for a UEFA U19 Championships qualifying round mini-tournament in Germany which starts next week. Striker Lavery recently made his first appearances for Northern Ireland having previously played for Canada, the country of his birth.

A Ronan Murray penalty three minutes after the break took Town's U18s to a 1-0 FA Youth Cup third round victory over Shrewsbury at a bitterly cold Portman Road. The Irish U18 international had won the spotkick himself when he was felled by visitors' keeper David Maguire had brought him down.

Academy midfielder Ed Upson has been named in the England U19 squad for their friendly with Croatia at Swindon's County Ground on Tuesday, 5th February. Upson, 18, has previously won three caps at U19 level.

Former Town loanee Paolo Vernazza has been stabbed in the leg after disturbing a burglar at his home in north London. Vernazza was detained in hospital after the incident which saw fellow ex-Arsenal youth player Andrew Douglas receive more severe injuries.
